What you need to know about Dihydrocodeine
It is an opioid analgesic that binds to mu‑opioid receptors to reduce the perception of pain and the emotional response to pain.
Moderate to severe pain when non‑opioid analgesics are insufficient.
As immediate‑release tablets (every 4–6 hours) or modified‑release tablets (typically every 12 hours), swallowed with water.
Immediate‑release 30 mg every 4–6 hours as needed (maximum usually 240 mg/day). Modified‑release 60 mg twice daily; doses may be adjusted by your prescriber.
Constipation, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, sweating, itch, dry mouth. Serious: respiratory depression, confusion, low blood pressure, dependence, and withdrawal.
