RYBELSUS

RYBELSUS helps adults with type 2 diabetes improve blood sugar control when diet and exercise are not enough. It is often prescribed to reduce glucose levels, lower the risk of highs after meals, and support weight loss as part of a broader plan. Many people find it complements lifestyle changes well.

What you need to know about RYBELSUS

It is a GLP‑1 receptor agonist that helps regulate appetite, slows gastric emptying, and enhances glucose‑dependent insulin secretion, improving blood sugar control and often reducing weight.

Licensed in the UK for adults with type 2 diabetes, alongside diet and exercise. It is not licensed in the UK solely for weight loss.

Start at 3 mg once daily for 30 days, then usually increase to 7 mg. If needed, increase to 14 mg once daily. Do not split or crush tablets.

If you drink, keep it moderate. Alcohol can worsen stomach side effects and, with other diabetes medicines, increase hypoglycaemia risk.

How does RYBELSUS compare with similar medications?

GI intolerance, pancreatitis, gallstones, dehydration, and low blood sugar when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Avoid in pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

No major direct interactions are typical, but absorption is sensitive to timing and stomach contents. Take it alone with water and separate from other oral medicines. Monitor if taking narrow‑therapeutic‑index medicines.
